ISO 14001 defines an international standard template for environmental management systems. Used in conjunction with appropriate goals, and with full staff commitment, the standard helps improve corporate environmental performance. It also provides an objective basis for verifying a company's claims about its environmental practices.
The commitment to a clean, healthy and safe environment is a core value for Ellice Recycle Ltd. Even though we can easily demonstrate our positive environmental impact through the volume of material we divert from the landfill (over 78% of what we receive is diverted), we decided to bring this level of performance into everything that we do. Ellice identified the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standards for environmental management systems as the best model for building and demonstrating our environmental responsibility. Ellice Recycle shall strive to ensure that its facilities and processes have minimal impact on the environment by:
- Complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations;
- Implementing formal systems and procedures;
- Monitoring environmental performance;
- Communicating the environmental policy to employees, subcontractors, suppliers and customers;
- Setting objectives and targets for environmental performance by the management committee;
- Striving for continual improvement by adopting technologies and processes that will further reduce its impact on the environment.
- This policy is reviewed annually by the Ellice Management Committee.
The ISO 14001 standard also includes a strong component of continuous improvement of environmental performance. To this end, we have many ongoing programs in place to reduce our environmental footprint for fuel, water, electricity consumption as well as our material diversion efficiency.
The performance of our Environmental Management System is evaluated regularly by trained auditors and we have an active program to identify opportunities for improvement in our business practices and service offerings.
