Since Victoria Symphony Splash launched 21 years ago, Ellice Recycle and its parent, Ralmax Group, have played a quiet yet vitally important role in helping Splash happen. While anxious music lovers watch the weather leading up to Victoria's most popular free outdoor event and the largest outdoor symphony concert held in Canada, the behind the scenes intricacies of preparing and loading the barge start taking place much earlier in the week, leading up to the BC Day long weekend in August. This is where Ellice Recycle comes in.
The preparations onboard the Seaspan Barge used to hold the Victoria Symphony along with VIP sponsors and which then becomes a floating stage in the middle of Victoria's Inner Harbour, takes place at a Ralmax dock. Typically, this dock is in use seven days a week by Ellice Recycle, loading up processed urban wood waste from the regional district which is then shipped to be used in Waste to Energy facilities in Washington State.
The loss of the 2-3 docking days needed to prepare the barge for Splash is a significant investment by Ralmax. However, without this docking space, Symphony Splash could not happen. Therefore, Ralmax and Ellice Recycle are pleased to be proud supporters of Symphony Splash each year, as people from across the province and around the world celebrate music and one of the most beautiful working harbours in the world.
